Standing On The Land Of The Free In The United States Of America

A short poem by stars :

AMERICA:

Is the land of the free ,

and it is,

the best place to be.

It is where folks are great,

in every state.

It is where science rules,

and where there are no fools.

________

America

is where we are all grand,

and where we all take a stand.

__________

American Liberty

is a God given thing,

because God only knows,

what ethics and justice can bring,

to a wonderful land ,

that is bold, mighty, and grand ,

where people sing ,

and can live like kings.

July 3, 2010. Happy Fourth Of July Weekend .

When I was a boy many years ago, and when my father was home with us after World War 2, it was nice to be near dad as he farmed the best he could, after being sent home a disabled soldier.

I should say that if you ever fall on hard times, and you ever become disabled, this is the country where people take care of their soldiers that fight for America, and for freedom.

Years ago when I was a boy, I thought about how fortunate I was to be born in the United States . My family was not wealthy, but we were not poor either. When I was born my mother and father had already purchased property and had cleared it together with a cross cut saw, in a small Louisiana town, and began farming it by raising strawberries.

Mom was a business woman. Her name was Victoria. Dad did only light work because of his war disabilities. Our dad received a total disability pension from the United States Army every month because he could not work a regular job to support us. The United States Government took care of our family. World War 2 mentally and physically disabled my father. He lost most of his hearing, and had other serious problems. The war damaged his nerves badly. He was a combat soldier. Dad was a platoon sergeant, and a career soldier. He fought in the jungles overseas.

Mom worked. She had rented a building and created a restaurant. I think mom bought the land from the money the restaurant earned. She bought a small house, and the land for around $1500. It took mom and dad a long time to save the money.

I think dad died about twenty years ago. He said he was going fishing. He asked me to come along. I told I could not because I had a lot of work to do. He told me I worked too hard. I told him to enjoy himself. He smiled, and then I never saw him alive again.

It was hard on mom when he died. It was real hard on Becky, until God calmed her down. The baby could never walk, but it was the only time in her life that the child stood up on her legs without someone holding her up. She just stood up and screamed for her grandfather.

Becky fell back into the lap of the sofa. She stopped screaming and crying just as if something magical entered her mind. She never mentioned her grandfather again as long as she lived and still lives.

My family has a lot to be grateful for. After World War 2 , my parents were able to provide us a decent home. In some countries, that is not possible.

I worked most of my life. My brother worked most of his as well.

Now I am in a situation where I can not walk very well. However I am glad that I live in the United States Of America.

I worked enough years in my life where my Social Security Disability is helping me to put food on my table , and electric in my home, and running water in my sink.

When I can walk, I am grateful to be able to walk because of my dear friends on Hub Pages, my Lord God, and because I have our U. S. soil and our ground to walk on.

I am looking forward to walking outside again to feel the free wind blowing against my face. I thank God, and my country for everything we have.

If you live in the United States it is always a great day to be alive, to be loved, and to be respected by your fellow good citizens.

If you live in America, it is a great day to be born.

If you live in the United States, it is a great day to be free.

If you live in the USA, it is a great day to grow up around great folks who are honest, decent, loving, compassionate, kind, fair, law full, trustworthy, tall, short, or of all cultures, that enjoy smiling that appreciate beauty and wonder, and you can learn a lot from them.

If you live in the USA, you can learn all you ever wanted to learn about anything and everything.

God Bless Everyone.

Hello Stars, Right on, you tell it like it is. Just ask all the illegal aliens if they want to go back, Ha, like hell they do. It burns me up when I hear any anti-America rant. How many American lives have been lost all around the world? Way too many. God bless the USA
